D2. Letters of refusal Situation 1. You are manufacturer. Replay to a wholesaler who is unknown to you. He wrote asking for an agency. Thank you for your letter of 18th February, and for the interest you show in our products. We regret that we are unable to offer you an exclusive agency for whole region, as you suggest. The main reason for this is that the Torin company have acted as our representatives in that area for many years, and we are not currently thinking of altering the arrangement. However, we would consider offering you a non-exclusive sub-agency for your town, for a one-year trial period. Alternatively, you may prefer Torin to supply you directly. I am sure they would offer very favourable terms for bulk purchase, and I am therefore copying this letter to their Managing Director, Mr Jones.
